ABOUT THE ALBUM

Ethan and Killy’s journey of praise began 13 years ago in the fall of 2005, while they were students at Union Bible College, Westfield, IN. An impromptu playing session in Killy’s dorm room led to an instant musical bond, and several original arrangements for cello and classical guitar were completed. Since that time Ethan and Killy have continued to enjoy sharing music as time and proximity allow.

Ethan began cello studies at the age of 11 with David Peshlakai at Hillsdale College, and later with Dennis McCafferty, University of Indianapolis. He has performed chamber and solo pieces throughout the United States, and his passion is ministry through sacred music. When he’s not involved with music in his local church, Ethan teaches private cello lessons and performs with a community orchestra. He is employed as a web developer and graphics artist, and loves spending time outdoors with his wife and family.

Killy is a native of Mirbalais, Haiti. He is married to Myrlande and blessed with three daughters. He is a former pastor of a Haitian church in Indianapolis where he and his family reside. His passion for ministry has led him to continue to minister to the Haitian community through online radio broadcast (inawam.org). He attended FDSE in Haiti (1998-2002), Union Bible College (2004-2007), and Indiana Wesleyan Seminary (2013-2015). He currently works for UPS and enjoys playing guitar and ping pong in his spare time. We are thankful to God for His faithfulness, and for our friends and family who have encouraged us to complete this project that began 13 years ago.

Testimonials

Sing to him a new song; play skillfully on the strings,” says the psalmist. Killy and Ethan have not only glorified God with their new album, Journey of Praise, on which they most skillfully blend the heavenly voices of guitar and cello. They also bless the listener with a beautiful and diverse array of hymns, anthems, praise songs, and even “Gabriel’s Oboe,” from the soundtrack of one of my favorite movie scores, The Mission. The combination of these two instruments is rich and smooth, like the finest chocolate ganache, and the musicians complement each other perfectly. This is an album I listen to again and again, savoring the inspiring, peaceful melodies and harmonies and grateful to have two such talented interpreters of the journey of faith God leads us along every day.

The melodies from “Journey of Praise” have me singing along and worshiping wherever I am. Thank you, Ethan and Killy, for pouring your heart and passion for the Lord into these songs and blessing our hearts with your melodies.

Lyrics

You Are My All in All

You Are My All in All
You are my strength when I am weak
You are the treasure that I seek
You are my all in all
Seeking You as a precious jewel
Lord, to give up I’d be a fool
You are my all in all

Taking my sin, my cross, my shame
Rising again I bless Your name
You are my all in all
When I fall down You pick me up
When I am dry You fill my cup
You are my all in all

Jesus, Lamb of God
Worthy is Your name
Jesus, Lamb of God
Worthy is Your name

You are my strength when I am weak
You are the treasure that I seek
You are my all in all
Seeking You as a precious jewel
Lord, to give up I’d be a fool
You are my all in all

Jesus, Lamb of God
Worthy is Your name
Jesus, Lamb of God
Worthy is Your name

As The Deer
As the deer panteth for the water
So my soul longeth after Thee
You alone are my heart’s desire
And I long to worship Thee
You alone are my strength, my shield
To You alone may my spirit yield
You alone are my heart’s desire
And I long to worship Thee

You’re my friend
And You are my brother
Even though You are a King
I love You more than any other
So much more than anything

I want You more than gold or silver
Only You can satisfy
You alone are the real joy giver
And the apple of my eye

And Can It Be

And Can It Be

VERSE 1
And can it be that I should gain
An interest in the Savior’s blood
Died He for me, who caused His pain
For me, who Him to death pursued?
Amazing love! How can it be
That Thou, my God, shouldst die for me?
Amazing love! How can it be
That Thou, my God, shouldst die for me?

VERSE 2
He left His Father’s throne above
So free, so infinite His grace
Emptied Himself of all but love
And bled for Adam’s helpless race
‘Tis mercy all, immense and free
For O my God, it found out me!
Amazing love! How can it be,
That Thou, my God, shoudlst die for me?

VERSE 3
Long my imprisoned spirit lay,
Fast bound in sin and nature’s night
Thine eye diffused a quickening ray
I woke, the dungeon flamed with light
My chains fell off, my heart was free
I rose, went forth, and followed Thee
Amazing love! How can it be
That Thou, my God shouldst die for me?

VERSE 4
No condemnation now I dread
Jesus, and all in Him, is mine
Alive in Him, my living Head
And clothed in righteousness divine
Bold I approach the eternal throne
And claim the crown, through Christ my own
Amazing love! How can it be
That Thou my God, shouldst die for me?

Blessed Assurance

Blessed Assurance
VERSE 1: Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine;
Oh, what a foretaste of glory divine!
Heir of salvation, purchase of God,
Born of His Spirit, washed in His blood.

CHORUS: This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior all the day long.
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Savior all the day long.

VERSE 2: Perfect submission, perfect delight,
Visions of rapture now burst on my sight;
Angels descending, bring from above
Echoes of mercy, whispers of love.

VERSE 3: Perfect submission, all is at rest,
I in my Savior am happy and blest;
Watching and waiting, looking above,
Filled with His goodness, lost in His love.

The Blood That Jesus Shed

The Blood That Jesus Shed
The blood that Jesus shed for me
Way back on Calvary
The blood that gives me strength
From day to day
It will never lose its power

It reaches to the highest mountain
It flows to the lowest valley
The blood that gives me strength
From day to day
It will never lose its power

It soothes my doubts and calms my fears
And it dries all my tears
The blood that gives me strength
From day to day
It will never lose its power

It reaches to the highest mountain
It flows to the lowest valley
The blood that gives me strength
From day to day
It will never lose its power

O The Deep Deep Love of Jesus

O The Deep Deep Love of Jesus
Oh the deep, deep love of Jesus
Vast, unmeasured, boundless, free
Rolling as a mighty ocean
In its fullness over me

Underneath me, all around me
Is the current of your love
Leading onward, leading homeward
To your glorious rest above

Oh, the deep, deep love of Jesus
‘Tis heaven of heavens to me
And it lifts me up to glory
For it lifts me up to thee

Oh, the deep, deep love of jesus
Spread his praise from shore to shore
How he loves us, ever loves us,
Changes never, nevermore

Be Still My Soul

Be Still My Soul
Be still my soul the Lord is on thy side
Bear patiently the cross of grief or pain
Leave to thy God to order and provide
In every change He faithful will remain
Be still my soul thy best, thy heavenly friend
Through thorny ways leads to a joyful end

Be still my soul when dearest friends depart
And all is darkened in the vale of tears
Then shalt thou better know His love His heart
Who comes to soothe thy sorrow and thy fears
Be still my soul the waves and winds shall know
His voice who ruled them while He dwelt below

Be still my soul the hour is hastening on
When we shall be forever with the Lord
When disappointment grief and fear are gone
Sorrow forgot love’s purest joys restored
Be still my soul when change and tears are past
All safe and blessed we shall meet at last

Softly And Tenderly

Softly And Tenderly
Softly and tenderly Jesus is calling
Calling for you and for me
See on the portals He’s waiting and watching
Watching for you and for me

Come home, come home
Ye who are weary come home
Earnestly, tenderly Jesus is calling
Calling, “O sinner come home”

O for the wonderful love He has promised
Promised for you and for me
Though we have sinned He has mercy and pardon
Pardon for you and for me

Come home, come home
Ye who are weary come home
Earnestly, tenderly Jesus is calling
Calling, “O sinner come home”

Translation:

As long as within our hearts
The Jewish soul sings,
As long as forward to the East
To Zion, looks the eye –
Our hope is not yet lost,
It is two thousand years old,
To be a free people in our land
The land of Zion and Jerusalem.
